The Half an Hour

Polly&Me

Polly&me is a social enterprise working with around 1000 female embroiders in 19 centres across the valley of Chitral, a remote mountain region of Pakistan.

"Who's Polly?"
"Polly" is the many skilled hands of the women who create our signature hand-embroidered cloth that adorns our leather handbags, clutches and wallets.

It was started by Cath Braid and her sister Ange Braid. Cath is an Australian designer who trained at Central St. Martin's School of Art and Design in London. Her collections have been showcased at both Melbourne and Sydney’s fashion weeks.

Each story started with a 3-foot textile that depicts an aspect of the life of women from Chitral – her thoughts, her dreams, her concerns...
...and ends with a limited collection of handbags with re-prints of the textile pieces in the "Gupshup" collection.
